We are so excited to announce up to 6 postdoc positions at Michigan State University. Experience, both lived and academic, in or with Indigenous/Native/First Nations communities, building and maintaining relationships with community partners, and experience in community-engaged research and/or STEM+ education research are highly desirable.  Salary is $70K per year for up to 2 years.

 

Summary: MSU is recruiting Research Associates (postdoctoral fellows) to advance this work and invites applications to join a cohort of up to 6 positions to train and work on Participatory and Community-Engaged Research in the context of STEM education (STEM Ed PaCER). Research Associates will work with teams from MSU, The College of Menominee Nation (CMN) and The State University of New York’s College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF) to train and then engage in independent scholarship, including access to research funds. Opportunities may include research and/or training with Indigenous communities in Fiji, Mexico, and sovereign Indigenous Nations in Wisconsin, Michigan, and/or upstate New York. Research funding will also be provided. This cohort is part of MSU’s NSF-funded STEM Ed PaCER program.

 

Review of applications will begin Feb. 1, 2023 and close no later than June 1, 2023. Applications will be reviewed upon receipt and the position will close once all positions are filled. Positions to begin on or before Aug. 15, 2023. All successful applicants will be funded to attend an orientation session in Summer 2023.

Position Summary

Michigan State University hosts cutting edge STEM+ (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and adjacent fields) education and participatory and community-engaged research to address the most pressing issues facing preK-12, postsecondary, and informal STEM education. To address these important problems, we have gathered many of the most creative scholars nationally, positioning MSU as a leader in STEM+ education and community engaged research.

Focus of research projects may include but is not limited to: Scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL), Discipline-based education research (DBER), K-12 education, informal education, and participatory and community-engaged domains.

Special note: We anticipate appointed fellows may show promise for and interest in applying for tenure-track positions at MSU.
