Good morning,

Cleveland Metroparks is expanding our wildlife program.  If you know anyone who is interested in doing wildlife management and research for a large National Gold Medal “Best in Nation” metropolitan park system, please share this job announcement. I hope to hire an experienced wildlifer with an MS or at least 3 years field experience so they can hit the ground running, assist with management and monitoring, and add to our research. We currently have a large-scale, long-term wildlife camera monitoring project; manage deer and typical human-wildlife interactions; conduct wildlife disease surveillance; breeding bird surveys; Motus monitoring; oversee Lights Out Cleveland volunteers; and conduct various research on human and wildlife interactions and trail use. This position will be diverse and offer experiences in many areas including collaboration with other staff in our Natural Resources division.

Here is some general information about the position.

The Wildlife Technician contributes to a research program that supports the management of sustainable wildlife populations through the application of sound science. Under the supervision of the Wildlife Ecologist the Wildlife Technician will support the conservation and management of wildlife within the framework of an urban park affected by both global and local influences including climate change, invasive species, and people. The Wildlife Technicians’ primary role is to assist with wildlife research, management, and mitigation of human-wildlife conflict throughout Cleveland Metroparks. The incumbent will contribute to existing wildlife surveys, expand new surveys, support wildlife management, and respond to wildlife concerns while working with other staff and volunteers.

Education and Experience
Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s preferred) from an accredited college or university in wildlife ecology, wildlife biology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of (3) years wildlife field or research experience, or other directly relevant job experience is preferred.

Credentials, Licenses and Certifications
Certified Wildlife Biologist (TWS) or Associate Wildlife Biologist (TWS) preferred or other similar certification.
