Position Description

 

The DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University invites applications for two tenure-track positions in the Strategic Management Area to be filled at the rank of Assistant Professor. The positions will commence on July 1, 2023. The successful candidate must have (or be very near completion of) a Ph.D. in Business Administration or related discipline from a reputable institution by the time of the appointment. They will possess excellent research, teaching and service skills. Successful candidates should demonstrate evidence or strong potential for productive research outcomes, such as publishing in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, conference presentations, and successful grant applications. Successful candidates will also demonstrate excellence in, or strong potential for, teaching and will be expected to contribute to DeGroote’s academic programs at both its Hamilton and Burlington locations. Successful candidates will be expected to teach one or more courses including Introduction to Business, Strategic Management, International Business, or Business Government and the Global Environment in the undergraduate and/or MBA level and must have teaching experience with the case method. They may be asked to teach or develop other courses within the field of Strategic Management in our undergraduate and graduate programs, including MBA and/or EMBA. They will also be expected to support the School’s initiatives within the business community and provide service to Area, Faculty and University-wide committees. The Strategic Management Area is committed to excellence in both research and teaching and boasts several award-winning instructors. Area faculty have published widely in several FT50 journals and teach in a number of programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels across the faculty. We support a culture that embraces bold, interdisciplinary thinking; drives the creation and application of evidence-based knowledge; and expects collegial activity undertaken with integrity. The DeGroote School of Business is one of six faculties at McMaster and we believe in experiential learning: complementing classroom studies with hands-on experience. DeGroote employs approximately 90 full time faculty members with total student enrollment of 4300 across the Commerce, MBA, specialized Masters programs, PhD, and EMBA programs.
