Dear colleagues

I hope this email message finds you well. On behalf of the organisation team, I would like to invite you to participate in a research impact hybrid Workshop on “What is impact and how to achieve it in Business and Management with a focus on International Business”

There is an increasing focus on Impact from research as a crucial input for REF exercises and this is part of a wider discussion on making research more accessible and beneficial for users. Leeds University Business School (LUBS) in association with Academy of International Business (UK & Ireland Chapter) will hold a Workshop on 1 December 2022 at University House, University of Leeds to develop a better understanding of what high quality Impact is and how it might be achieved.

The Workshop will include leading experts, many of whom were members of the business and management (B&M) REF panel, authors of impact case studies (ICS) and research impact and engagement manager/officer. They will outline key issues for high quality Impact. An in-depth analysis of ICS submitted in International Business in REF 2014 and REF 2021 will be presented and an analysis of B&M ICS from a selection of Universities in REF 2021. The presentations will form the basis for discussion to identify strengths and weakness in submitted ICS and to consider some possible ways to enhance impact from research outputs.  Issues connected to practical matters on preparing high quality ICS will also be examined in the Workshop.
