We are pleased to announce the John H. Dunning Visiting Fellows for the 2022-23 academic year, hosted by the John H. Dunning Centre for International Business at the Henley Business School, University of Reading.   A committee consisting of Mark Casson, James Walker, Alain Verbeke, Davide Castellani, and Rajneesh Narula reviewed the applications.

The Fellows for 2022 -23 are:

Qian (Cecilia) Gu is an Associate Professor at the Robinson College of Business, Georgia State University. Her research interests lie at the intersection of international business, strategic management, and entrepreneurship. In particular, she is interested in understanding how emerging market firms strategize to respond to various stakeholder relations and demands, as well as the increasingly turbulent global environment. Her works have been published in top journals such as Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Strategic Management Journal, and Organization Science, among others. She is the recipient of multiple research and teaching awards, including the recent Best 40 Under 40 Business Professors award by Poets & Quants.

Saptarshi Purkayastha is an Associate Professor of Strategy at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. His primary research interest is in investigating the effectiveness of emerging market firms with a focus on internationalization and the role of governance in managing these firms. His research has been published in Organization Science,  International Journal of Management Reviews, Journal of World Business, Journal of Business Research and Asia Pacific Journal of Management.

The visiting fellowship programme is aimed at creating opportunities for researchers at the early-to-mid stages of their career to visit and collaborate with academics at the Centre.  Dunning Fellows are expected to be actively engaged in the field of international business (broadly defined), and with an inclination towards multi-disciplinary and theory-driven research, in the tradition of John Dunning.  Visiting fellows are expected to give at least one seminar, and to spend some time in residence over an academic year (between September and July).
