Job description:
We are seeking one research assistant to work on a project related to the restoration of coregonines in the Great Lakes. The position is full time and involves (1) collecting, organizing, and analyzing morphometric data using developed methods (40%), (2) preparing reports (e.g., text summaries, tables, figures) for the results of morphometrics analyses (30%), and (3) providing laboratory assistance to the project (30%). The successful candidate will be working closely with scientists at the Great Lakes Science Center and Great Lakes Fishery Commission. The initial appointment will be 58 weeks with a rate comparable to GS-7 (about $26/hour in Ann Arbor) but includes no benefits. The position will start as soon as a contract is signed.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be hired under a student services contract. Hence, the applicant must either be a currently enrolled graduate student or have obtained a BS or MS degree within the past 12 months. The applicant must have some understanding of linear models (including ANOVA) and multivariate analyses (such as principal component analysis), fish biology and ecology, and environmental sciences and must be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel. Preference will be given to candidates with experience with R and scientific publication.
