The Department of Management in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech invites applications several open rank Professor of Practice faculty positions to begin January 2023. Typically, appointments are made at the level of Assistant Professor of Practice, but candidates with 20+ years of experience in executive or leadership positions could be considered for a higher-level appointment. These are academic year (9 months) positions (mid-August to mid-May). The faculty member will teach 18-21 credit hours in fall and spring semesters, engage in curriculum development and enrichment efforts, and provide mentoring and support to students. The faculty member will also serve on departmental, college, or university committees. Professors of Practice are expected to interact with industry professionals and remain active in their professions in ways that contribute to their university assignments; examples include executive teaching, industry consulting, and serving in professional societies or associations. These are non-tenure track positions, and not intended for tenure transfer but advancement in rank is achievable. We are seeking candidates who can contribute to the diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts of the Pamplin College of Business community.

Required qualifications:
Candidates should have (1) master's degree in business or closely related field; (2) demonstrated effectiveness in the delivery of business instruction; (3) ability to teach courses in two or more of the following areas: international business, business analytics, project management, human resource management, leadership, managerial consulting, strategic management, business ethics, and entrepreneurship; (4) demonstrated engagement with the business community; (5) strong interpersonal and communication skills; (6) the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts of the college and university.

Preferred qualifications:
(1) Professional experience in higher-level management positions; (2) ability to teach a wide range of courses in the areas listed above as well as in innovation, emerging technologies, and general management; (3) experience in leading interdisciplinary teams or working as a human resource manager; (4) experience in consulting, project management, or starting and managing a new venture.
