Just Published: Guide to Intercultural Skill Development and Assessment

Tired of collecting assessment data and not understanding whether you achieved the goals you set out to for your intercultural programming? Do you want to streamline and simplify your program development and assessment processes for intercultural learning? Lead your team/faculty/staff through a clear, easy process to prepare for effective intercultural interactions at local campuses and abroad?

The Guide to Intercultural Skill Development and Assessment provides a step-by-step process of design, implementation and assessment with application to academic, corporate, international, and social settings. The guide was developed by the Cross-Cultural Assessment Team, a unique team of collaborators/consultants—instructional designer, international education administrator, management professor, neuroscientist, and corporate trainer. Use the guide in a variety of learning modalities—in person, virtually or in hybrid fashion—to promote high-impact educational programs, internationalization of the curriculum, pre-/post-orientation in study abroad, diversity equity and inclusion (DEI) training, service-learning techniques, or community and civic engagement strategies.

The book has a foreword by Hope Windle, State University of New York Collaborative Online International Learning Center (COIL Center), a review by Christopher Price, Academic Programs Manager, SUNY Center for Professional Development and was edited by Kay Jones, an Intercultural Communication Specialist.

Authors: Dr. Bidhan Chandra (SUNY Empire State College), Dr. Susan Jagendorf-Sobierajski (SUNY Cobleskill), Dr. Runi Mukherji (SUNY Old Westbury), Dr. Patrice Prusko (Harvard University), and Rebecca Smolar (National Association of Consumer Advocates)
