Dear all, apologies for cross-postings

Digitalization in emerging markets is concerned with the use of technology
to create sustainable competitive advantage. The development of digital
technology, such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing,
blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT), is considered to have profound
implications for markets and industries and for the transformation of
business systems and firms. Digitalization is distinct with respect to
other innovations because of its scope as well as the importance and rate
of change of the processes, products, and services. In contrast to more
incremental innovations, digitalization is usually disruptive or
transformative. Worldwide, companies are faced with the implications of the
ongoing digitalization of markets and productive processes. All this
illustrates the strategic relevance of 'the digital'.

Digitalization is likely to affect corporate governance issues by changing
the nature of agency problems. The implications of digitalization for
commissioners and directors is not the first thing that comes to mind when
it comes to training and education. Within this Research Topic, we call for
papers that explore the corporate governance in banking in the digital era,
especially in emerging markets. We specifically welcome research on
evolving digital expertise in the Boardroom and the coming digital era.
More specifically, we welcome research that analyzes how banks are now
including digital experts in their boards, the digital expertise of
chairmen, and how digital expertise is used in important core committees in
matters such as remuneration and nomination. We are also interested in the
appointment of 'digital' members of the board. The analysis of this
research can be understood as an exploratory analysis of the composition of
the board in banking. These new trends raise a number of novel, challenging
questions for corporate finance, especially in emerging markets.

Themes that can be addressed in the Research Topic include, but are not
limited to, the following:

1. How does digitalization affect corporate governance in banking?

2. How does digitalization impact the corporate governance of firms? What
type of corporate governance problems may arise?

3. How does the composition, structure, and processes of Top Management
Team (TMTs) change in the digital era (e.g. the appointment of Chief
Digital Officers (CDO)?

4. How does big data and analytics influence the tasks, decisions and
actions of TMTs?

5. What is the nature of strategic leadership work, decisions, and actions
in times of digitalization, automation, and robots?

6. What are the roles of emotions, feelings, and other human traits in TMT
decisions in the age of big data and analytics?
