Dear colleagues, Are you interested in updating your teaching skills and discussing best practices with us during the annual conference of the Academy of International Business in Miami? If so, please join us (no signup required)! We offer two teaching cafés each day from July 6-8 on the following topics: Diversity and Inclusion in IB education This teaching café invites IB educators to share their experiences and learn from each other about: a) teaching practices that help to ensure fairness in student assessment and inclusion of diverse topics/theories in IB courses; b) pedagogical tools that support utilization of student diversity and when handling diversity of perspectives and views in the classroom; c) diverse materials and examples that IB educators could use beyond the Western-focused textbooks and cases; d) ways to develop own skills and support fellow educators in eliminating potential biases and growing open-mindedness; e) what business schools can do to incorporate diversity and inclusion in their own faculty and leadership. Futures Studies for Sustainability: a new approach to management education This teaching café will introduce and combine future studies methodology with sustainable management elements in higher education. By going beyond the introduction of the core elements of future studies and the criticism of the current status quo of various business sectors towards sustainable development, participants can experience selected exercises to get a glimpse of the (inter)active and experiential learning nature of this topic. Also, this session will open the discussion about how to incorporate those exercises and combine them with IB topics such as sustainability, maritime supply chains, and international procurement, among others, as well as sharing resources with participants to apply them in their courses. Study abroad in post-COVID Please join us to share your thoughts, expertise, and questions in this round-table format discussion. Both facilitators will be on hand to direct the conversation, as well as share their own experiences of leading travel abroad courses in the current global health environment. Topics of discussion include airline policies, covid-testing (to leave and come home), contingency planning and risk management, passing on lessons learned, and setting yourself and your students up for success.
