Kindly, Jason Gallant Student Job Position: Electric Fish Lab Colony Manager Department of Integrative Biology Dr. Jason Gallant in the Department of Integrative Biology is currently seeking a responsible, dependable, and well-organized student employee to oversee a colony of weakly electric fish. The job involves coordinating animal care, ordering, and stocking supplies, feeding animals, cleaning aquaria, performing periodic water quality tests, and maintaining the large, complicated aquarium system that houses our animals. To be successful at the job, you need to be dependable, highly organized, have good communication skills, enjoy problem solving, and be willing to work well with others. Periodic weekend shifts are required. The ideal candidate for this job has significant experience keeping aquatic animals, and a strong interest in managing an animal colony, including learning the relevant regulations. Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.0 and be willing to work 10 - 20 hrs. each week. While this is not a research position, our animal care and research are intertwined: the animal coordinator will be required to participate in weekly lab meetings.
