RESEARCH SKILLS IN
INTERNATIONAL MARKETING WORKSHOPS

Workshop Focus: These free workshops will
cover basics of academic research, identifying research topics, research design, theory, creating the research paper, publishing in academic journals, and handling revise and resubmit requests, all in the field of International Marketing.
Target Audience: PhD
students and faculty interested in International Marketing, particularly those based in Latin America.
Deadline for Registration: 12 April 2022
In the event of oversubscription, priority will be given to AIB members in the Latin America & the Caribbean region (AIB-LAC). Note that AIB-LAC will
hold its online pre-conference on
1 July. The deadline for early registration for the AIB-LAC pre-conference is 15 April (with registration fees as low as US$15).

Workshop Schedule:
1st session: Thursday, April 14, 7:30 to 9:00pm, Sao Paulo, Brazil time (UTC/GMT-3), online via Zoom;
2nd session: Thursday, May 12, 7:30 to 9:00pm, Sao Paulo, Brazil time (UTC/GMT-3), online via Zoom;
3rd session: Wednesday, July 6, in-person, in Miami, Florida, USA at the AIB 2022 annual conference.
The online sessions will be delivered via the Zoom platform. We will send participants the appropriate link. Participants should turn on their video during the sessions to replicate conditions
in a face-to-face class.
If you are a member of the AIB, you will receive a Certificate of Participation.
The AIB will provide a stipend to
a select group of workshop participants to attend the final segment of the workshop at the AIB-LAC (Latin America Caribbean chapter) and AIB World 2022 annual conferences, occurring concurrently in Miami, which will cover registration and hotel lodging for
the conferences. Students must complete an application. Please see details below.

WORKSHOP LEADERS
Gary Knight ([log in to unmask])
is Professor and the Helen Jackson Chair at Willamette University in Salem and Portland, Oregon, USA. Previously he was Professor of International Business at Florida State University. Before joining academia, he was Export Manager of a medium-sized company,
directing the firm’s international operations in Asia, Europe, and North America. A Fellow of the AIB, he has been an invited speaker at institutions worldwide. Gary has co-authored several books on international business and international marketing. He has
authored or co-authored more than 50 refereed articles in academic journals, including Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal
of International Marketing, and the Journal
of International Business Studies. Two of his articles in JIBS are among most cited in international marketing. He is ranked one of the top 10 scholars in ‘international marketing’
at Google Scholar. Gary earned his PhD at Michigan State University in Marketing and International Business.
Kelly Hewett ([log in to unmask])
is Associate Professor and the Reagan Professor of Business, and Charles and Dorothy Duggan Research Fellow at the University of Tennessee’s Haslam College of Business. She serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal
of International Marketing. Previously, she was a senior vice president for five years in the corporate marketing group at Bank of America. Kelly’s research has been published in
the Journal of Marketing, the Journal
of International Business Studies, the Journal of the Academy
of Marketing Science, and the Journal of International Marketing,
among others. Kelly has received numerous awards and recognitions for her research, teaching, and service. She has served as a Corporate Trustee for the Marketing Science Institute, and as a member of the boards for the AMA’s Marketing Strategy and Global
Marketing Special Interest Groups. She teaches a Ph.D. seminar on marketing strategy, and in UT’s Executive and Professional MBA programs.

Certificate of Participation: If
you are a member of the AIB, you will receive a Certificate of Participation on completion of the first two segments, and an Advanced Certificate of Participation will be awarded to those who complete all three segments.

AIB 2022 Participant Stipends: Stipend
recipients will receive complimentary registration for both the AIB-LAC
conference and the AIB
World conference, as well as a lodging allowance up to four nights to stay at the conference hotel, in Miami, Florida, USA. Recipients would be responsible for their own flight to Miami. Stipends are available to AIB members who are full-time
PhD students and/or low-income status at the time of application. Applicants must complete all three segments of the AIB/Sheth Workshop – April 14 and May 12 (online), as well as July 6 (in Miami).
Applications for the stipend will open upon completion of the May online workshop. Applicants must complete an online application form and submit a one-page CV, and email to the AIB Secretariat – [log in to unmask]by
the application deadline. Once you have submitted your materials, please do not register for AIB 2022 until you have received a formal decision on your application. We expect to send decisions by May 23, 2022. The general registration deadline for accepted
authors is 15 April 2022, but this deadline will be waived for all stipend applicants.
