Subject: Funded PhD position at OSU on relational organizing and human-bear conflict

Hi, all

Our new Co-Op faculty, Dr. Megan Jones, and I will be co-advising a new PhD student. Please help us recruit someone awesome!

The Oregon Coop Unit and Human Dimensions Lab at Oregon State University are recruiting for a funded PhD student to contribute to applied research on relational organizing to reduce human-bear conflict.

The PhD researcher will help design and conduct applied research to:

  1. Understand the social-psychological barriers to outreach by motivated volunteers to encourage others in their social networks to reduce bear attractants, and
  2. Implement and evaluate a communications campaign to support community volunteers to engage in outreach to their social networks to reduce human-bear conflict.

The student will receive 4 years of funding (3 years of teaching assistantship and 1 year of research assistantship) and will develop and implement a project-related dissertation in collaboration with Dr. Megan Jones and Dr. Kelly Biedenweg. We welcome international applicants and those from historically excluded groups.

The anticipated start date is September 2022, and applications will be accepted until filled. For more information see the attached position description, or see it online here<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https*3A*2F*2Fstatic1.squarespace.com*2Fstatic*2F6114220520eaa64d55c82254*2Ft*2F6234a4ce03f39e5818957711*2F1647617230260*2FHuman-BearConflictPhDAnnouncement_OregonCRU.pdf&data=04*7C01*7Cmichaela.kratofil*40oregonstate.edu*7Cb1c2a8d4dcda46f9249408da08f9c689*7Cce6d05e13c5e4d6287a84c4a2713c113*7C0*7C0*7C637832166213838050*7CUnknown*7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0*3D*7C3000&sdata=ktFiU6CyrrhW1WNBk7MPvBDRdlNcQ9wwtRtP*2FuQClmk*3D&reserved=0__;JSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSU!!HXCxUKc!hto5kYEbs7OKuukzKKFUMNPrKxg-q8HtWPXu8d2Wr_Iyv3uJvitHW2154plz6Z4Q8w$>.
