We are looking for a Professor in International Business at Aston Business School (ABS). IB has always been strong at Aston and colleagues in ABS have published in the leading IB journals: JIBS and JWB. Furthermore, we run very successful undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in IB as well. We operate across a wide field so could you bring original ideas and approaches to enrich some or all of our six key research themes, in particular those that have a strong IB dimension to them?

* Trade and Global Value Chains

* Multinationals and the Green Economy

* The Digital Economy and Innovation

*    Markets & Policy

*    Entrepreneurship and Regional Development

*    Data Science and Methodology

All of these themes fit in to our 3 research centres:

1) The Centre for Business Prosperity<https://www.aston.ac.uk/research/bss/abs/centres-hubs/business-prosperity>

2) The Centre for Research in Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship<https://www.aston.ac.uk/research/bss/abs/centres-hubs/creme> (CREME)

3) The Aston Centre for Growth<https://www.aston.ac.uk/research/bss/abs/centres-hubs/aston-centre-for-growth>

We're very interested in how, through your research, teaching and impact, you can enrich the department across these themes and bring in new perspectives.

Does your work embrace sustainability and contribute to actions that generate positive social, environmental, and economic change?

Have you published in a wide range of International Business outlets and are you recognised as a key leader in your discipline? For example, do you engage with the IB community at the Academy of International Business?

Could you bring with you experience in writing original research grant proposals which can develop our impact and provide insights and intelligence which help those operating in the international business and economic environment to make good business decision?

We believe that greater diversity is more likely to produce excellence, because personal experience matters in informing our perspectives on the issues and challenges faced by modern economies. We believe that an international perspective would have significant benefits to our department as we know that greater cultural and ethnic diversity will give greater insights into understanding global challenges.

We want to meet all candidates who meet these criteria. If you are an enthusiastic colleague who enjoys mentoring junior colleagues and can support them to generate new ideas that lead to publications, research income and impact then please do get in touch.

We are using a new recruitment process (in collaboration with Diversity by Design) called Recruiting for Difference, which helps remove biases and preferences when assessing candidates. It has been created to give the fairest opportunity to all. Using an evidence-based approach to assessment, we ask that you respond to real-work scenarios we have developed. The selectors will not know any personal details about you at short-listing stage. Therefore, you will only be assessed on the responses that you give. CVs are set aside in this process and are seen solely by HR to check details and undertake due diligence. We hope that this process will be helpful to candidates by bringing clarity to what we are looking for and that you will feel reassured by our commitment to opening access to the widest range of candidates and designing out bias in the assessment of evidence you bring.
