Blockchain is one of the key innovative technologies ready to transmute the way value chains are being managed. It can greatly improve supply chains by enabling faster and more cost-efficient delivery of products, improving products’ traceability, enhancing coordination between supply chain entities, and helping access to financing. Blockchain can be a powerful tool for addressing the supply chain issues of sustainability, traceability, verifiability and resilience. Despite the fact that blockchain technology is widely being discussed, until now, the literature had lacked a comprehensive understanding of the blockchain driven supply chain management and its linkage with digital technologies, supply chain sustainability, mapping, visibility, verifiability and resilience.
The proposed handbook will bridge this gap by offering topics from their important themes: first what is the architecture and design of BCSCM and how it differs from the conventional supply chains, second performance impacts of BCSCM and third implementation challenges and strategies. This handbook will also delineate the challenges, opportunities and strategies on the adaptation and implementation of Blockchain based supply chain management. Hence, the proposed book would provide a diverse perspective on the understanding, architecture, impacts, and implementation of blockchain driven supply chain management. The handbook would show the importance of block chain driven supply chain management for contemporary organizations: how it contributes to supply chain traceability, resilience, sustainability, how it affects value chain performance performance, how it is linked with the supply chain ambidexterity, and how it connects to the other digital technologies.
The proposed handbook also will demonstrate as to how adoption of block chain driven supply chain management requires to consider intangible forms of capital (human, processes and relationships), which is different from more traditional forms. Book will also demonstrate the strategic implications of adopting BCSCM. This book will prove to be the first with scholastic and action-oriented perspective on the understating, operationalization and adoption of block chain driven supply chain to create value.
