To all colleagues interested in self-initiated expatriation/migration, we would like to remind you of the 2nd International Conference on Self-Initiated Expatriation, organised by the University of Bamberg on 11 and 12 April 2022. Participation is possible online or in presence (Bamberg/Germany) – for selected sessions of your choice or the whole conference. If you are interested, please register online by 31 March 2022 (see registration link below). Thanks to generous funding from the EU, participation is free of charge for all participants.

The 2nd International Conference on Self-Initiated Expatriation, organised by the University of Bamberg, will take place in Bamberg, Germany, from the 11th to the 12th of April 2022. As a follow-up to the 1st Conference on Self-Initiated Expatriation in Toulouse, this two-day event will address the careers of Self-Initiated Expatriates/Migrants, as well as the value these globally mobile individuals bring to companies and, more broadly, to host-country economies and societies.

We are delighted to announce our plenary keynote speakers:

§  Herbert Brücker – Institute for Employment Research (IAB).

§  Frédéric Docquier – Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research.

§  Hugh Gunz – University of Toronto Mississauga.

§  Mila Lazarova – Simon Fraser University.

This interdisciplinary conference will provide the ideal opportunity for researchers and practitioners from all over the world who are active or interested in the field of self-initiated expatriation/migration and careers, to:

• disseminate and discuss the latest research,
• explore new international research and business collaborations,
• meet in a relaxed atmosphere to exchange views and build new relationships.
