Subject: Hiring Bat Field Techs, Pacific Northwest
External Email - Exercise Caution
The Northwest Bat Hub is hiring for seasonal crew lead and student field technician positions to conduct acoustic monitoring as part of our North American Bat Monitoring (NABat) effort in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. The crew lead will be responsible for ensuring implementation of fieldwork to establish stationary detector deployments in remote locations, which will include making daily plans, delegating tasks to tech assistants, and problem solving. The student technician will assist the crew lead in deploying ultrasonic bat detectors, recording field metadata, and managing field gear. This position requires a large amount of time in the field: applicants must be flexible in when and where they will be working given changing field conditions and project needs; camping the entire summer; fieldwork often occurs in difficult weather conditions, sometimes involving tough hikes with heavy packs containing recording equipment and deployment gear often in remote locations throughout the Pacific Northwest.
