Subject: Summer 2022 Field Technician
Hi Jim,

Happy first day of classes!

I was wondering if you would be willing to share a summer job opportunity with FW students (or any alumni that might be interested)?

We’re looking to hire a summer field tech for our camera trapping study on Michigan waterfowl. I’ve included a brief job description below and folks are welcome to email me with any questions.

Careers@MSU – Job no. 757468
Applications due by January 30, 2022
https://careers.msu.edu/en-us/job/509117/technical-aide
One technician needed to support research on waterfowl and recreation use of managed wetlands in Michigan. The project uses trail cameras (i.e., camera traps) to monitor sites across the state of Michigan, and sites are accessed by canoe. The technician will primarily be responsible for a) analyzing camera images, b) camera trap deployment and maintenance, and c) taking physical and biological measurements at sites. Regular travel throughout Michigan will be required with the potential for overnight stays near study sites during the week. The main campus of Michigan State University (East Lansing, MI) will serve as the central work location, but there is some flexibility for where the technician is geographically located. The technician will be responsible for their own housing. The official start date is flexible, but preference is for April 1, 2022. The position is expected to last approximately 9 months and salary will be $15.00/hour.

Thanks,

Mauri
