Message from Tanya Furman – AGU Educ section lead:

Dear members of the Education Section,
Thank you all for a wonderful fall meeting! Whether you participated in person or on line, your contributions made the meeting a real success.
As we turn our attention to the coming year, we seek volunteers to help lead the section in several key roles. These leadership positions require a manageable commitment of time, energy and skills, and we all benefit from your efforts. Specifically, we seek candidates for the following roles, all of which have seats on our Executive Committee and encompass 2-year terms:
Fall Meeting Program Committee - We need one individual to help recruit, organize, coordinate and publicize technical sessions of all types for Fall Meeting 2022. If you are an organized and logical person, this position is ideal for you!
Canvassing Committee - We welcome a new member to this group, whose responsibility is to encourage nominations of highly qualified individuals for AGU Union and Section awards.
Section President-Elect - This individual serves 2 years as president-elect, learning the functions of AGU Council and staff while becoming integrated in all section activities, followed by 2 years as president during which you guide section activities and 2 years as past president. This is an elected position and we require two candidates. Our section is young, so there are many and diverse opportunities for setting our agenda for meetings, workshops and outreach activities, and for collaborating across AGU sections and activities.
Section Secretary - This individual is part of the executive leadership of the section, and serves as chair of the Communications Working Group where they develop and implement their vision for section communications, and coordinate the efforts of our webmaster, newsletter intern, social media leader, and publications. This is an elected position and we require two candidates; the term is for two years and can be renewed.

If you have interest in any of these roles, or know someone who might be a terrific asset to the section, please contact me ([log in to unmask]). We are particularly interested in strengthening international collaborations and building our efforts outside of the US. Candidates for president-elect and secretary will be identified during January with elections coming in the spring; the other positions are appointed and should be filled by March, 2022. If you are interested in learning more, or joining our team in other ways, please let me know! We look forward to hearing from you.
