A gentle reminder to our friends in the IB community, the much-awaited joint Reading IB & AIB-UKI conference will be going ahead (live! f2f)  from the 8-9^th April 2022 at the Henley Business School in Reading, UK (with a doctoral colloquium on the 7^th, as well as a research methods workshop).

 

Covid restrictions are minimal. Provided you are fully vaccinated (and negative prior to travel), there are no quarantine requirements. So come drink some fine English ales, and enjoy Brexit treats available nowhere else on the planet (while rubbing shoulders with some of the finest minds in IB).

 

Are you planning to submit a paper? The deadline for paper submissions for the main conference is 31 January 2022 – click here for instructions for submission.

 

We have three wonderful, Reading-style debates with stellar panel members, a mix of senior and junior scholars from around the world (and suitably gender balanced, of course J) .

• Our opening panel asks: ‘Can MNEs really play a role in reducing inequality?’, with Farok Contractor, Anne Jacqueminet, Aloysius Newenham-Kahindi,  and Irina Surdu. 
• The  second panel brings in an economic geography flavour to the debates, on ‘MNEs and urban inequality’ with such stars as Chair: Davide Castellani, Andreas Schotter,  Andrés Rodriguez-Pose,  Katiuscia Lavoratori, and Luisa Gagliardi
• This being Reading, our third panel asks (rather cheekily) if we are coming back in fashion: Internalization strikes back: the limits of GVCs with Ari van Assche, Stephanie Wang, Valentina de Marchi, Vivek Soundarajan, and Pavida Pananond.

Are you  doctoral student? Are you planning to attend the doctoral colloquium on 7 April 2022? You have until 11 February 2022. Note that our registration fees are deliberately low, so low that we are making a loss on PhD student registrations!

We have other useful pre-conference events, including a Research methods workshop, and a PDW on the 7^th of April.
