Subject: FW: JGE access change?

JGE’s access policy changed when the publisher switched to Taylor&Francis (in… 2018, I believe?). NAGT members have access, and institutions that subscribe through T&F. Papers that pay T&F’s open access fee should be open access for everyone. The publisher lets us make one paper a month free to access, in addition to the papers that paid to be open access.

Authors can post their manuscripts to repositories such as EarthArXiV, as a pre-print before review, or the author’s version after an embargo period (18 months for JGE). Authors can also post their manuscript to their personal website. Here’s the link to the repository policy: https://authorservices.taylorandfrancis.com/research-impact/sharing-versions-of-journal-articles/

Hey Kim!

I'm guessing you probably got this message too, but wanted to be sure you saw it. I'm not sure why Julie's access would have updated. I feel like I've always seen the charge to access papers when I'm not logged into my university account, but perhaps I'm misremembering.

Does anyone know if JGE changed it’s open access policy? I noticed that when I don’t login into my university, Taylor & Francis is charging $53 to access papers. The model used to be a one year embargo and then open access. It isn’t a problem for me, but I need to be able to communicate the policy changes to my colleagues who do not have institutional subscriptions to JGE.

Enjoy your end of semester!
