We are conducting a search for the next Chair of the Management department in the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University. Please see information and links below. Position Description (responsibilities/duties) 

 

Texas State University invites applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Management. The Department of Management is a highly collegial and intellectually vibrant group of approximately 23 fulltime faculty that offers a BBA in Management with concentrations in Entrepreneurial Studies, and Human Resources, a Master of Science in Human Resource Management, and provides significant support to a large MBA program. 

 

The chair has the responsibility for the administration of the department, which includes responsibility for the implementation of university, college, and department policies and the development, coordination, and administration of all academic programs and activities within the department.  This includes providing effective and inclusive leadership that fosters shared governance.  As a representative of the department, the chair is expected to articulate program aspirations, directions, standards, and points of view to other groups inside and outside the university community. Successful applicants must demonstrate the ability to provide academic leadership, mentor faculty and students, conduct and publish high-quality scholarly research, and teach undergraduate and graduate courses.  The chair is responsible for managing the department’s budget and leading the department on matters related to curriculum innovation and research impact, recruitment and performance evaluation of faculty and staff, and the formulation and implementation of strategic priorities.  The chair will work with the dean in seeking and facilitating external giving and resource development for the department.
