The NASA-funded Infiniscope program at ASU is hosting a virtual tour workshop as part of the AGU Fall Meeting. It’s aimed at educators and includes a virtual training on place-based learning through the use of the digital platform Tour It, a field trip at AGU to capture media, and an in-person build session. Details are below.

Capture the Stories of New Orleans with Immersive Virtual Tours!

Join us to learn how place-based learning using immersive virtual tours can increase accessibility and transform learning.

·         Virtual Training Session (12/5, 1-6 pm Central): Prior to the AGU workshop, participants will join the Infiniscope team in a virtual event to focus on the pedagogy of place-based learning and how to apply it using immersive virtual tours. 
 

·         Field Trip (12/12, 8 am -12 pm Central): At the AGU conference, participants will take a bus to the Laughing Buddha Nursery where they’ll get a tour and capture media for their virtual field trip. Subject matter experts will be available for information, guidance, and media.
 

·         Build Session (12/12, 1-4 pm Central): Back at the conference center, participants will begin building their virtual tour with guidance and help from experienced builders.

**Stipends are available to those who complete the training and a tour to cover registration fees. You will need a smartphone to capture media and a laptop computer. Click below for more details.

How to Register

1.    Register to attend the AGU in-person meeting here: https://www.agu.org/Fall-Meeting/Pages/Register-Housing (Proof of Vaccination Status is Required to attend the AGU). 
*You will need to create an account. Once logged in, choose registration and indicate that you will be attending in-person. The registration rate for educators is $50 so be sure to choose that option when registering.

2.    Choose Add Sessions & Events and click Dec 12th.

3.    Scroll to add "Capturing the Ecological, Environmental, and Cultural Stories of New Orleans in Immersive Virtual Tours for K12 Classrooms"

4.    The Infiniscope Team will be in contact with additional details to get you started.
