Graduate Assistantship

Conservation Genomics of Freshwater Mussels



A Graduate Assistantship to conduct research on the conservation genomics of freshwater mussels is available in the Aquatic Biodiversity & Conservation Laboratory at Miami University, Oxford, OH. Funding from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service will support the use of genomic approaches to assess parentage and genetic variation of captive-raised mussels to be used for population restoration and to provide guidance to agencies charged with protection of endangered and threatened species. The position starts in January 2022. Compensation includes a full waiver of in-state and out-of-state tuition, a competitive academic-year stipend, and summer salary. Applicants with experience using genomic techniques and those wishing to pursue a PhD in Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Biology will have preference, although strong candidates wishing to pursue an MS in Biology will be considered.
