You are invited to the first Commonwealth Women Entrepreneurship Summit. A 2 day online conference on 19-20 May 2021 (09.00-19.30 BST) for policy makers, entrepreneurs, government agencies, entrepreneurship support organizations, funders, and educational institutions, it aims to frame and feed into key international meetings in which the partner organisations are involved in 2021. The event is being convened by the Commonwealth Businesswomen’s Network (CBWN), directly recognised by all 54 Commonwealth governments with key partners: the UK Government (through the Innovate UK Women in Innovation Network), Africa’s largest network of women entrepreneurs (AWEP: African Women’s Entrepreneurship Program) and the world’s largest entrepreneurship community (Global Entrepreneurship Network).

It aims to fill three key gaps. The G20 said in December 2020, there is ‘a missed opportunity - to tackle the gap that needs immediate action, which is the representation of women in emerging fields.’ The Commonwealth Women’s Entrepreneurship Summit will address that need. It will also be the first international event to focus on women in emerging tech areas including fintech, edtech, healthtech, createch, cleantech and agrictech and so will help to provide evidence and research for challenges and opportunities in these areas. It will also provide a voice for women and countries too often on the margins rather than the centre of discussions about international business. All 12 sessions of an hour each will be livestreamed with automatic replay and simultaneous broadcast on radio with opportunities to connect to knowledge networks that have been set up for the Summit and will continue to grow after the event. It is free and open to all and members of the AIB and WAIB community are especially welcome. A report will follow.
