The Executive Board of the Academy of International Business (AIB) is seeking an Editor for AIB
Insights, who will serve starting January 1, 2022, for a three-year term (January 2022-December 2024). The new Editor will start processing manuscripts in Fall 2021 and will be
fully responsible for all editorial activities starting January 1, 2022. The official term for the next Editor is January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2024, following the current Editor John Mezias’ term (2019-2021).
AIB Insights is
one of the three journals of the Academy of International Business. The journal provides an outlet for original, short (2,500 words), interesting, topical, and thought-provoking articles that examine theoretical, empirical, practical, or pedagogical issues
affecting the international business (IB) community. AIB Insights does
not publish articles intended for traditional scholarly journals in international business, such as the Journal of International Business
Studies (JIBS) or Journal
of International Business Policy (JIBP). AIB
Insights publishes articles that provide actionable international
business insights which often stem from author(s)’ experience, research, or careful observations. Articles should inform, educate, and enlighten readers by providing a new perspective on international business practice and/or new pedagogical frameworks for
teaching international business. AIB Insights is
designed to have a broad reach, not only to IB researchers, teachers, and students in colleges and universities, but also to practitioners in the international business and public policy communities.
Articles in AIB Insights are
expected to be grounded in research but written in a practitioner-friendly manner free of professional jargon and technical terms, and light on references. Ideally, these are presented as “written TED talks” with clarity, wit, intelligence, and perspective
to stimulate discussion and discourse. Appropriate topics include original research, analyses, and surveys that highlight new IB trends and issues; innovative approaches or frameworks to teaching IB, research methods or business curriculum internationalization;
and articles that propose change or action for managers and policy makers engaged in international business. AIB Insights is
published digitally four times a year (see: https://insights.aib.world/).
AIB Insights articles
are free to submit and free to read.
AIB Insights has
an Editor and an Associate Editor (chosen by the Editor) who serve together during the Editor’s term. The AIB Executive Secretariat staffs a full-time Managing Editor of AIB
Insights who is responsible for the Scholastica online
submission and management system, including the processing of manuscripts and communication between authors, reviewers, editors, and publisher. There is also an Editorial Review Board. Submissions are mostly peer reviewed, but there are a few invited pieces
especially for the Awards Special Issue. The Editors are responsible for the content and organization of AIB Insights,
management of the manuscript review and selection process, and adherence to the AIB’s Codes of Ethics. The Editor provides the public face of the journal and is responsible for communications and travel to promote the journal, as appropriate. The Editor reports
to the AIB Executive Board and attends the Board’s annual meeting. Major policy decisions for AIB Insights are
the responsibility of the AIB Executive Board while the management of the journal is the responsibility of the Editors. Support (such as release-time and/or administrative assistance) from the Editor’s university is desirable but not required, and if provided,
the Editor’s university will be acknowledged on the journal website.
Applications should include the following: (1) the full vita of the candidate and their proposed Associate Editor; (2) the respective roles of the Editor and Associate Editor in managing the journal and how they will split up the duties (maximum 1 page); (3)
the vision for the development of the journal over 2022-2024, including how they will recognize the diversity of the AIB membership (maximum 1 page); (4) a summary of the candidate’s track record, including AIB activities, and how it will inform their tenure
at AIB Insights (maximum
1 page); and (5) a description of any resource commitment by the candidate’s university, if applicable (maximum 1 page)
