What You Will Do The Emerging Crops program explores the potential for new crops, including industrial hemp, hops and grains for craft beverages/bakeries for commercial growers, oilseeds, or other emerging crops. You will provide leadership for planning and developing educational programs that emphasize the production and management of emerging crops. Additionally, you will deliver one-on-one consultations with key producers and industry partners. Specific duties include: * Helping growers understand and navigate the legal/regulatory process related to growing emerging crops (i.e., industrial hemp). * Utilizing industry-based research to develop educational materials and programs. * Evaluating educational programs that address producer identified needs and opportunities; making recommendations to enhance program efforts. * Preparing quarterly reports and yearly impact statements on program progress and accomplishments. * Collaborating with educators and faculty to facilitate summer crop tours, field demonstrations, and research plots with growers and local industry representatives. * Collecting data and participating in the experimental monitoring by collaborating with commercial growers and farms in the state. * Assisting in preparing grants in support of Program Generated Funds requirements for the program.
