Title: Management Education in the Fourth Industrial Revolution

Session Description:

Management educators currently find themselves in an era of great disruption, not only from the current challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic but also due to the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) which is rapidly transforming society and the workplace.  The 4IR is upending how we work, where we work, why we work, and who does the work, creating implications for what managers and leaders will do, and how we can better prepare our students for jobs of the very near future.  In this session, we will briefly describe the 4IR including its implications for management educators and our stakeholders, both in terms of what we teach and how we teach.

Speaker: Dr. Cynthia (Cindi) V. Fukami is Professor of Management at the Daniels College of Business, University of Denver.  In addition to her disciplinary contributions, she has made substantial contributions to the scholarship of teaching and learning. Cindi has published some 12 articles, 9 invited chapters and has made over 60 presentations on the scholarship of teaching and learning. She served on the Board of Directors (two years as Board Chair) of the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society (now MOTBS) from 1987-1992 and has been a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Management Education since 1991, serving as Associate Editor for over 15 years.  She received the Susan Herman Service Award from MOBTC in 2019. She currently serves on the editorial board of Academy of Management Learning and Education, after having served on the inaugural board as Associate Editor from 2002-2005.  Cindi is a Fellow of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
