MARINE EDUCATION INTERNSHIP

Three-month internship with potential to extend to six months, $500 USD/month stipend, employer contribution to health insurance, plus accommodation at CCMI's Little Cayman Research Centre and 3 meals/day provided.

The Central Caribbean Marine Institute maintains an active field research and education programme in the Cayman Islands. Interns gain exceptional field, lab, and classroom teaching experience.

Internship Responsibilities
Your internship will entail working with a vibrant and dynamic group of educators and scientists:


  *   Setting up K-12 programme activities, organizing logistics & schedules, delivering lessons, leading field trips, conducting evaluations and assessments.
  *   Scuba diving and snorkeling with students.
  *   Preparing boats, vehicles and students for field trips
  *   Facilitate enrolment by assisting with registrations, waivers, certifications, and entering data.
  *   Assist with maintaining classroom and equipment.
  *   Helping with operational needs around the field station as required.
  *   Conducting tours of the station.

Intern Experience Requirements:

  *   Versatility. CCMI interns should be capable of working with minimal supervision and under strenuous conditions and be versatile and willing to assist with a variety of task that are continuously changing.
  *   Bachelor’s degree or experience in a relevant discipline (Marine Science, Conservation Biology, or Education)
  *   Experience in teaching coral reef ecology, conducting reef surveys, underwater photo/video all a plus.
  *   Scuba certified. Preferably rescue diver level or above with @ 100+ dives. Experience working as a divemaster or scuba instructor beneficial.
  *   Excellent communications skills, well organized, enthusiastic and capable of prioritizing.
