AIB Insights 2020 Year in Review:

Dear friends and colleagues,

Hope you are well. Year’s end is a time for reflection, and we wish to share with you some of the accomplishments and advancements at AIB Insights this year.

We proudly established an inaugural Editorial Review Board<https://insights.aib.world/editorial-board> of dedicated scholars: Ilan Alon, University of Agder, Norway; Helena Barnard, University of Pretoria, South Africa; Paul Beamish, University of Western Ontario, Canada; Alvaro Cuervo Cazurra, Northeastern University, USA; Andrew Delios, National University of Singapore, Singapore; Charles Dhanaraj, University of Denver, USA; Lorraine Eden, Texas A&M University, USA; Maria Alejandra Gonzalez-Perez, Universidad EAFIT, Colombia; Romie F. Littrell, National Research University Higher School of Economics, The Russian Federation; Klaus E. Meyer, Ivey Business School, Canada; James Nebus, Suffolk University, USA; Susan Perkins, University of Illinois – Chicago, USA; Betty Jane Punnett, University of the West Indies, St. Vincent & Grenadines; Elizabeth Rose, University of Leeds, UK; Daniel Rottig, Florida Gulf Coast University, USA. This step is critical for advancing the journal and we gratefully acknowledge these scholars and their willingness to serve.

Partnering with Scholastica, we transitioned to digital publishing. This evolution has allowed us to publish more articles, while also supporting our simultaneous transition to a peer-review system. Most importantly, digital distribution and enabling people to electronically search and retrieve our articles greatly extends their reach and impact. We thank FIU Doctoral Student Magdalena (Meggy) Viktora-Jones, AIB Insights Managing Editor Anne Hoekman and AIB Executive Director Tunga Kiyak for their efforts working with Associate Editor William Newburry to digitally convert previously published articles to extend their reach and impact. Articles dating back to 2013 are currently available on the new AIB Insights website<https://insights.aib.world/>, with prior articles extending to the journal's start in 2001 expected to be available in the first quarter of 2021.

Our 2020 articles featured important insightful topics. Vol. 20, Issue 1<https://insights.aib.world/issue/2255>, coedited by Allan Bird, Daria Panina, and William Newburry, focused on the responsibilities of educators in international business. Vol. 20, Issue 2<https://insights.aib.world/issue/2410>, coedited by Snejina Michailova, Christina Stringer, and John Mezias, addressed modern slavery and how international business scholarship can contribute to uncovering and ending this insidious practice. Vol. 20, Issue 3<https://insights.aib.world/issue/2617> focused on effects of COVID-19 on IB policies and strategies to provide key insights for navigating international business during this pandemic. We believe this was the first peer-reviewed special issue published examining the effects of Covid-19. Vol. 20, Issue 4<https://insights.aib.world/issue/2686>, AIB Insights annual awards issue, featured dissertation summaries from finalists of the 2020 AIB Dissertation Award and a topic forum on World Investment Report (WIR) at 30. If you have not done so already, we encourage you to read these issues.

Lastly, we thank the AIB Board, AIB Secretariat, and the AIB Publications Committee for their continued support and guidance as we navigated the journal’s course during this tumultuous year. We extend special thanks to Managing Editor Anne Hoekman. These accomplishments would not have been possible without her experience, dedication, and hard work.

As this challenging year ends, we also thank you for your support of AIB Insights. We look forward to receiving your best work as we continue to publish Applied International Business Insights!

Best wishes for 2021!
