LANSING URBAN FARM PROJECT IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THREE NEW BOARD MEMBERS

The Lansing Urban Farm Project (501c3) has been recognized as a model for urban agriculture in the Lansing area since 2010.  Its mission is to address the collective needs of small-scale Lansing farmers and thereby strengthen the city’s food and farming system – economically, culturally, and ecologically. Sustainability, social equity, and community responsibility are critical aspects of our mission. To this end, LUFP seeks to expand its Board of Directors from eight to eleven members.

We are looking for people who share LUFP’s interest in the urban food system and have the time to invest 6 hours a month to promote LUFP programming and carry its mission forward. We are especially looking for persons who have skills in one of three main areas:

□ Communications:  This board member will need to have communication skills and be comfortable taking on LUFP’s website management, using social media to promote LUFP’s food/farming campaigns, and, with input from the entire board, improving LUFP’s existing website and social media platforms.

□ Grant writing: This board member will need to have experience researching grant opportunities and be comfortable with the language and process of grant-writing. This person will work alongside other board members to help conceive and/or write LUFP’s grant proposals.

□ Community organizing: This board member will need to be innovative and socially aware. A primary responsibility will be building relationships and ultimately partnerships with other food and farming-related organizations and businesses in the Lansing area.

Please note that no board member will be required to work alone, but only to take on a leadership role in their area of expertise.

If you are interested in one of these Board positions, please fill out the attached application and indicate which of the three positions best align with your skills. Email the completed application to [log in to unmask].

Applications are due Friday, February 22nd.  Final decisions will be announced the first week in March. For any questions, please contact the LUFP Board at [log in to unmask].
