Positions and Areas
The Department of Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong now invites applications for tenure-track positions
at Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor/ Professor levels. We welcome applications from seasoned Assistant Professors/ Associate Professors/ Professors who are engaged in high-quality scholarship in different (macro) management areas such as corporate
social responsibility, entrepreneurship, innovation management, international management, and strategic management. Experience in teaching at the MBA level is a must (comparable Masters level teaching may be considered).
Qualifications and Duties
Applicants should possess an earned doctorate in management or a related discipline, and be strongly committed to excellence
in scholarly research, teaching and service. Applicants for appointment at Associate Professor/ Professor level should possess a publication record commensurate with the years of experience.
Responsibilities include publishing high-quality scholarly research, teaching management courses at the undergraduate
and/or graduate levels, and participation in academic and professional activities. The appointees are also encouraged to apply for external funding to support research endeavors.
Remuneration and Support
Appointments will initially be made on contract basis for up to three years
starting in August 2021, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later. Successful candidates will be offered a competitive salary commensurate with their qualifications and experience. In addition, the
University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including housing allowance and medical insurance, and a 15% contract-end gratuity for an appointment of two years or longer. Alternative arrangements may be possible for more senior appointees
In addition, there is a 3-course load per year, startup research funds, teaching and administrative assistance, academic
leave and mentorship will be provided.

About the Management Department
The Department of Management advances the vision of the CUHK Business School, “To develop global business leaders
for the Asian Century”, through transformative educational programs, impactful research and knowledge, and our presence and touch with the community and society. The Department’s major research strengths center on the areas of international and organizational
management with a special focus on the Asia-Pacific region, in particular China and Hong Kong. It comprises a team of academics with diverse ethnicity and extensive international experience who engage in a wide range of management research in entrepreneurship,
human resources management, international management, organizational behavior, and strategic management.
The Department is ranked the 2nd worldwide in international business research (in terms of publication count in the
Journal of International Business Studies) for the period of 1970-2016. And faculty members have been among the most highly cited researchers in recent years as awarded by Clarivate (formerly Thomson-Reuters). According to the latest UTD Ranking (2019),
based on publication counts in the four top-tier management journals (Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of International Business Studies, and Strategic Management Journal) during the period of 1995-2019, CUHK is ranked the
42nd worldwide.
Department members actively play a leading role in the academic field. Professor William Wan as an Associate Editor
of Journal of Management, Professor CS Wong is the long-time Chief Editor of Asia Pacific Journal of Management, and Professor Kenneth Law is a Consulting Editor of Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology. In addition, department
members have been active in international business journals. Professor Shige Makino has served as an associate editor at Global Strategy Journal
and consulting editor at Journal of International Business Studies. Professor CS Wong here is the current Editor-in-Chief of Asia Pacific Journal of Management, and David Ahlstrom is a consulting editor (and former senior editor) at Journal
of World Business and Asia Pacific Journal of Management.
Members also serve on the Editorial Review Boards of Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review,
Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, and the
Journal of World Business. Our faculty members have served in leading academic associations, including Academy of International Business, Asia Academy of Management
and the Strategic Management Society.
Furthermore, the Management Department founded the Asia Academy of Management, an academic organization that fosters
management education and research in the region, and will be again hosting the Asia Academy of Management at the Business School. The Department currently hosts four research centers, namely Center for Business Sustainability, Center for Entrepreneurship,
Center for Family Business, and Center for International Business Studies.
