The University of Eastern Finland (UEF) is one of the largest universities in Finland. The UEF is a multidisciplinary university, which offers teaching in more than 100 major subjects. The university has approximately 15,500 students and some 2,700  members of staff, and the university’s campuses are located in Joensuu and Kuopio.
The University of Eastern Finland is inviting applications for the following position:
FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES AND BUSINESS STUDIES
Senior Researcher (International Sales Management), fixed-term position, Business School, Kuopio Campus
The University of Eastern Finland offers education in economics and business administration at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral levels. One of the themes of research and teaching of the Business School at the Kuopio Campus is international business and sales management.
The duties of the Senior Researcher involve research in the field of international sales relating to cross-cultural communication and negotiations, international sales processes and sales relationships. The Senior Researcher is expected to participate in demanding research and development projects that are geared towards publishing in international top-level journals. The duties of the Senior Researcher also involve the preparation and coordination of research proposals, including Horizon and other EU level finance instruments.
The Senior Researcher will also be involved in teaching at the Bachelor’s or Master’s levels in the field of international sales relating to cross-cultural communication and negotiations, international sales processes and sales relationships. The duties of the Senior Researcher also involve the supervision of Master’s theses. The language of instruction is English.
In accordance with UEF’s University Regulations (Section 31), persons to be appointed as Senior Researchers shall hold a suitable doctoral degree and have good teaching skills. In this position, a suitable doctoral degree refers to a Doctor of Science in Economics and Business Administration degree in, e.g., International Marketing, International Business, Marketing or Sales. Furthermore, the person to be appointed is expected to be a specialist in international sales both in research and teaching. The position also requires skills in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods as well as evidence of publishing in leading/top-level international academic journals. Experience in working and seeking funding for academic research projects, particularly Horizon and other EU financed ones, will be regarded as a merit.
The person to be appointed is expected to have excellent skills in the English language.
The position is filled for a fixed term from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2022 or as agreed. The position is filled for a fixed term due to temporary research and teaching arrangements.
The salary of the position is determined in accordance with the salary system of Finnish universities and is based on levels 6 - 7 of the job requirement level chart for teaching and research staff (€3,460.91–3,989.91 / month). In addition to the job requirement component, the salary includes a personal performance component, which may be a maximum of 50 % of the job requirement component.
A probationary period is applied to all new members of the staff.
