Several opportunities to learn with MIFFS - note this screening as well!

"On THIS Sunday, November 8 at 6:30 pm we will be hosting a virtual screening of the film GATHER. Gather is an intimate portrait of the growing movement amongst Native Americans to reclaim their spiritual, political and cultural identities through food sovereignty, while battling the trauma of centuries of genocide. Gather follows Nephi Craig, a chef from the White Mountain Apache Nation (Arizona), opening an indigenous café as a nutritional recovery clinic; Elsie Dubray, a young scientist from the Cheyenne River Sioux Nation (South Dakota), conducting landmark studies on bison; and the Ancestral Guard, a group of environmental activists from the Yurok Nation (Northern California), trying to save the Klamath river. • We hosted our first Michigan Family Farms Conference listening session in October and we would like to thank all the resource providers and partners that participated! We found the session to be very informative and are excited to host additional sessions to hear more about what we can do to improve and what works well. We are committed to hearing from those that have been a part of the conference over the years to help inform changes that move the conference forward. We will use this information to create a more diverse, inclusive, and equity-focused conference with more community representation guiding the way. Stay tuned for announcements of future feedback opportunities and please let us know if you are interested in coordinating a community feedback session via email at [log in to unmask] or call us at (517)-709-8271.
