Hope everyone at Michigan State University is doing well and staying safe! My name is Dr. Mohamed Ghorab, I worked at Wildlife Toxicology Laboratory as Assistant Research and after obtain my Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology contained help Prof. Zwiernik, for almost one year as Postdoc, Research Associate at the same lab. last summer I joined Pegasus Technical Services, Inc c/o US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as Research Toxicologist (Work Assignment Leader for Toxicology group) and from couple of weeks I accepted offer from the US EPA, Office of chemical safety and pollution prevention,  Office of Pesticides as Federal Toxicologist Scientist. Mid-Level Biologist/Ecotoxicologist


Pegasus Technical Services, Inc., an environmental consulting firm in Cincinnati, Ohio, has an immediate opening for a Biologist with an emphasis in ecotoxicology. This full-time position is funded through a U.S. EPA contract, and the work will be performed on-site at a U.S. EPA Facility in Cincinnati, OH.

The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter with initiative and flexibility, possess critical thinking skills via an aptitude for problem solving while envisioning the final product/project deliverables. This R&D aquatic research laboratory receives water and sediment samples from the field that are associated with, lakes, streams and rivers to assess ecological health of sites via monitoring programs and assesses remediation efforts/progress of ecologically impacted sites (i.e. Superfund). Past and current research opportunities have included CEC (contaminants of emerging concern) baseline/threshold establishment for nanoparticles, pesticides, WWTP & CAFO hormones and/or antibiotics & pharmaceuticals, agricultural fertilizer run-off, HAB’s (harmful algal bloom toxins) and real-time biomonitoring. The ideal candidate should have familiarity and experience with toxicological specific statistical analysis tools to generate dose/response relationships along a gradient of chemical concentrations exposed to biological models (fish & aquatic invertebrates). In addition, the successful candidate is expected to have expertise in field sampling and fish identification including fish collections using electroshocking methods. Endpoints produced will consist primarily of: mortality, growth, reproduction, fecundity, fertility, behavioral, etc. effect levels via LOEC, NOEC, IC’XX’, LC’XX’ as well as fundamental t-tests and ANNOVAs. Summary reports for each project are produced, reviewed and submitted to the US EPA principal investigator. The person in this position will also provide support for on-going laboratory research activities, perform data management and record keeping, maintain equipment, track inventory supplies, and ensure proper QA/QC guidelines are followed. Full time Position, Contract from 1-5 years renewable contract according to the work performance

Basic Qualifications:

  *   MS degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Toxicology or a related discipline, or BS with appropriate work experience.
  *   Familiarity with dose/response statistical generation.
  *   Expertise in field sampling and fish identification.
  *   A good working knowledge of chemistry is highly desirable.
