The OECD Directorate for Financial and Enterprise Affairs and the Investment Committee would like to invite you to the Webinar in Memory of Mike Gestrin Tuesday, 10 November 2020 | 15.00 Paris time Mike Gestrin passed away one year ago. His friends and colleagues, at the OECD and elsewhere, wish to celebrate his curiosity for new interdisciplinary themes with a webinar devoted to the role of policies in the research agenda of International Business in the aftermath of COVID-19. On 25 June 2019, Mike organised and chaired a panel on “Public policy and the international business research agenda: Where do we go in the next half century?”, at the Annual meeting of the Academy of International Business (AIB) in Copenhagen. The panel consisted of Peter Buckley (University of Leeds), Sarianna Lundan (University of Bremen), Karl Sauvant (Columbia University), and Alain Verbeke (University of Calgary). The discussion underscored the renewed interest in this academic community in the policy dimension of international business and the clear scope for strengthening OECD linkages with this community. We have invited the same panellists (and friends of Mike) to meet again to assess: • How COVID-19 is affecting the International Business research agenda? • Are the issues that emerged from the discussion last year still relevant? • How did COVID-19 change the relationship between MNEs and government policies, both in OECD countries and in large emerging market economies? • Has the pandemics changed public opinion’s perception of the contribution of MNEs to the economy and society at large?
