We are now inviting applications for
an Associate Professor (Tenure Track) position in International Business, Business School, Kuopio Campus
The position of Associate Professor of International Business is a Tenure Track position at the University of Eastern Finland. The position will be
hosted by the Business School at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies, more specifically by the specialisation of international business and sales management. The Business School of the University of Eastern Finland operates on both the Kuopio
and Joensuu campuses. The position will be located in Kuopio.
In the currently vacant position, the Tenure Track can be entered from the Associate Professor level onwards. At the end of the term, the merits of
the person will be evaluated to determine whether he or she can proceed to the next level of the Tenure Track, i.e. be appointed as a Professor without public notice of vacancy. The criteria, objectives and results to be achieved during the term in order to
proceed to the next level of the Tenure Track will be agreed in detail with the appointee when signing the contract of employment.
The position is sought to be filled for a fixed term of four years as from 1 January 2021. The position is filled for a fixed term due to it being
a Tenure Track position.
The specialisation of international business and sales management offers education in the field of international business and sales management. The
person to be appointed to the presently vacant Associate Professor position is expected to be specialised in research and education in international business.
A person to be appointed as an Associate Professor in the Tenure Track shall hold a suitable doctoral degree and have good teaching skills. Furthermore,
a person to be appointed as an Associate Professor in the Tenure Track shall have the prerequisites for fulfilling the qualification requirements of a Professor by the end of the Tenure Track term (UEF University Regulations, Section 31). In this position,
a suitable doctoral degree refers to a Doctor of Science in Economics and Business Administration degree in, e.g., international business or international marketing.
The role of the Associate Professor is to conduct and promote research into international business, and to participate in other activities of the
Business School. In this position, teaching in international business can be delivered at all levels of academic education. The Associate Professor’s research is expected to focus on international business, and he or she is expected to actively participate
in project activities, in the acquisition of national and international research funding, and in international research networks.
The Associate Professor is expected to have demonstrated achievements in research addressing international business, e.g., in internationalization
of companies and their international modes of operation, international business models and management of international business, as well as experience in university-level teaching and supervision.
When assessing a candidate’s achievements in research, special emphasis will be placed on publications, especially those published in the field’s
internationally top journals, as well as on international research collaboration, experience in leading research, and previous success in securing research funding.
The Associate Professor is expected to have excellent skills in the English language and to be able to supervise students and give teaching in English.
The salary of the Associate Professor position is based on level 7 of the job requirement level chart for teaching and research staff (3,989.91 euros/month).
In addition to the job requirement component, the salary is supplemented by a personal performance component, which can be a maximum of 50% of the job requirement component.
A trial period is applied to new members of the university's staff.
