M.Sc. Student: Lake Sturgeon Ecology We seek a highly motivated student to pursue a Master of Science degree at the University of Toledo to begin Spring 2021. The thesis project will leverage the Great Lakes Acoustic Telemetry System (GLATOS) to address questions related to Lake Sturgeon ecology through analysis of telemetry data. The student’s thesis will broadly focus on Lake Sturgeon survival, habitat use, and movements in Lake Erie. The University of Toledo’s Lake Erie Center will serve as home for the student’s research operations. Students will work closely with state and federal agencies, and academic and non-academic partners including the US Fish and Wildlife Service, US Geological Survey, the Ohio Division of Wildlife, the Toledo Zoo, and Michigan State University. Qualifications: B.S. in ecology, fisheries, biology, limnology, environmental science, or a closely related field. Experience with quantitative analysis of animal movement and knowledge of coding in R, GIS, or similar software is desirable. Salary: Includes $15,900 stipend for the academic year, with additional summer stipend support. General fees and medical insurance support are also provided.
