Copenhagen Business School invites qualified candidates to apply for the position as Head of the Department of International Economics, Government and Business (EGB).

EGB is a multidisciplinary department, which conducts high-quality research in the fields of international business, economics and political science with direct relevance to business, policy-makers and the public. Research at the department focuses on three principal themes and their interrelations:

·      Firms and international business

·      Societal challenges

CBS has recently developed a new strategy. With the position as Head of Department comes a unique opportunity to be one of the driving forces in executing the transformation of our institution as well as shaping the strategy at the local level. Responsibilities

The responsibilities as Head of Department include

  • Facilitating the provision of research, education, and dissemination of the highest quality within the areas of International Business and Political Science
  • Developing and implementing EGB’s strategy as a part of CBS overall strategy
  • Maintaining a well-run department, including financial performance, administration, and collaboration with other units at CBS
  • Ensuring a highly qualified staff of researchers, lecturers, and administrators through focused recruitment and talent development
  • Contributing actively to ensure diversity among staff as well as a positive research environment and work climate
  • Strengthening the external funding base to support research activities 
  • Contributing to EGB’s and CBS’ national/international recognition and value-creation for society
  • Contributing to a collaborative and collegial environment among the 11 Heads of Department and Senior Management at CBS

Experience and professional profile

Special emphasis will be given to the following qualifications:

  • Being an internationally recognized scholar with a research profile within the areas of international business and/or political science, with a preference for candidates being able to bridge these disciplines
  • Being at least at the level of associate professor
  • Management/leadership experience from a research and educational institution 
  • Personal integrity and ability to handle and develop a complex organization 
  • Ability to inspire and motivate staff, colleagues, and partners for teamwork and collaboration
  • Fluency in English and being prepared to learn Danish, if not already Danish speaking

The Department of International Economics, Government and Business (EGB) counts 46 researchers and brings together the study of states, markets, and international firms in the context of the challenges faced by emerging and advanced economies. EGB´s research is based on international business, economics, and political science, and is of direct relevance to business, policymakers and scholars. The research environment is highly international. Department faculty direct a range of programs: BSc and MSc International Business (IB and IBS), BSc and MSc International Business & Politics (IBP), International Business in Asia (IBA), and the graduate diploma program (HD) in International Business.

Terms of appointment
The position as head of department is term-limited with 3-5 years’ tenure depending on prior experience. It is possible to extend the tenure for up to another 3 years. Salary, duration, and terms of appointment are open for negotiation.

The position is filled in accordance with the Danish collective agreement for academics, as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations), and in accordance with the Danish University Act and CBS' bylaws.
