CALL FOR PAPERS
11th Annual Conference of the Academy of International Business (AIB) Latin America and
the Caribbean Chapter (AIB-LAC formerly known as AIB-LAT)
June 27th - 28th, 2021
Florida International University (FIU), Miami

Despite the export tradition, Latin America & the Caribbean firms have also expanded their business overseas through FDI investments, mainly in the last 20 years. Pro-market reforms in the 1990s have stimulated them to search for new ways to upgrade their competitiveness internationally and keep competitive advantages in their home countries.

After two decades of economic transformations, there are many successful cases about Multilatinas. Some of them acquired major industry players and became market leaders worldwide. In 2019, ten of them were among the largest MNEs in the world based on the Fortune Global 500 rankings. Regarding digitalization, an innovative ecosystem is being developed, and Unicorn companies are now booming in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and other countries.

The patterns of internationalization of Latin America & the Caribbean now seem to be aligned with other regions. So, what is still different about Latin American & Caribbean firms from other economic emerging regions?

To address these and other related issues, the Latin American & Caribbean Chapter of the Academy of International Business (AIB-LAC) announces its 11th Annual Conference to be hosted by Florida International University (FIU) at its Downtown campus on Brickell Avenue, in Miami from June 27th - 28th, 2021.

We cordially invite you to submit your research related to the conference theme.
