Dear family, friends and colleagues,

All over the world, members of the Academy of International Business (AIB) get together once a year about this time of the year for the annual AIB world conference. This year, for the first time, the conference was held virtually online rather than in a physical location. As part of the AIB 2020 conference, a group of AIB members called the AIB Running Club agreed to run during the conference – but each in their own location – keeping tabs on the total kilometers from running, walking and cycling. This year, for the first time, the Club decided to couple with event with some fund raising to help fight the coronavirus pandemic. I signed onto this effort and committed to 100 kilometers between July 1 and July 9.

Just wanted to let everyone know that TODAY with this morning’s bike ride my total for July 1-9 is now 103.7 kilometers so I HAVE MET MY GOAL OF 100 KILOMETERS! As promised, I am donating today $200 to two charities fighting COVID-19: the International Rescue Committee and the WHO’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. FYI, my husband Chuck Hermann has been doing a combination of biking, walking, and jogging too, some with me, some on his own. He’ll cross 100 KM today also so he’s going to match my donation and give to the charity or charities of his choice who are engaged in fighting COVID-19.

Thank you to everyone who has been also biking/riding/walking as part of the AIB 2020 Running Club and/or has made or is making donations in support of the Club.

If you have or are making a donation to the charity of your choice, please let Ari Van Assche know ASAP (he’s keeping track of the donations raised by the club). His email address is [log in to unmask].

I’m looking forward to a report from Ari on how many people participated over the 9-day period, the total number of countries involved, total kilometers travelled, and total funds raised to BTHO the coronavirus.

Thank you for your support! Best wishes, Lorraine Eden

p.s. In case you are not familiar with BTHO…. It’s a Texas A&M Aggie yell that means “beat the hell out outta….” It’s normally chanted during sports events, worn on t-shirts, etc. Type “BTHO” into Google Search, comes up right away.
