IM Division Virtual Junior Faculty Consortium 2020

The International Management Division will conduct a virtual Junior Faculty Consortium (JFC) during this year's virtual Academy of Management Meeting on Saturday, August 8, 2020 (specific time details will be updated as the virtual meeting program is developed).

The JFC is designed for junior colleagues who have defended their dissertation in the last 1-5 years and are facing the challenges of building successful academic careers in the field of International Management (IM). It will provide the unique opportunity for junior faculty to engage in conversation around the key issues of career, research, publishing, teaching, and service with leaders in our field from around the world. The senior faculty panel includes deans and administrators, editors and editorial board members, distinguished scholars and educators, as well as successful mid-career colleagues who will offer their insights and advice on these important issues. Through a combination of structured panels, round table discussions, and informal interactions, we will tackle the questions of risks and opportunities of choosing a career in IM, getting tenure, building a scholarly reputation, developing a research/publishing strategy for greater impact on the field, and maintaining a healthy balance between research, teaching, and service.

The Consortium will conclude with a "Meet-the-Editors" session where, together with the Doctoral Student Consortium, participants will hear directly from the editors of the leading journals in the field of International Management.

International Management Division 2020 Virtual Paper Development Workshop (PDW)

The International Management (IM) Division will conduct a virtual Paper Development Workshop (PDW) at the forthcoming virtual Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management on Saturday, August 8, 2020 (specific time details will be updated as the virtual meeting program is developed).

Participants will get a chance to get candid and developmental feedback from several highly experienced senior scholars.

Since the purpose of this PDW is to provide junior scholars with developmental feedback on their research, papers submitted must fit under the IM Division's mandate. The IM Division focuses on content pertaining to the theory, research, and practice of management with a cross-border or cross-cultural dimension. Major topics include: the cross-border management of operations, including multi-country, multi-unit, strategy formulation and implementation; evolving forms and management practices in cross-border business; the cross-border differential impact of cultural, social, economic, technological, political, and other institutional forces on strategies, organizational forms, and management practices; the international competitiveness of firms, industries, and nations; and comparative management studies involving two or more countries.

While priority will be given to junior scholars, all are welcome to apply. Applicants from other fields trying to internationalize their research are also welcome.

We also encourage participants in the Paper Development Workshop to participate in a tentative "Meet-the-Editors" session (chaired by Grazia Santangelo) starting immediately prior to the PDW session.

Submit the following to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> by June 19, 2020:
