The MDD is an updatable online database supported by the American Society of Mammalogists Biodiversity Committee that aims to centralize the latest changes in mammalian taxonomy. Our goal is to aggregate, curate, and compile primary literature citations on new and historical species descriptions and revisions into regular digital releases that are downloadable in comma-delimited format to promote rigorous studies of mammalian biodiversity worldwide. # Qualifications
###
- Current student, undergraduate or graduate levels;
- Experience with & affinity for mammal taxonomy, including the structure of taxonomic descriptions, synonymies, and citations;
- Database experience, and ideally, knowledge of web formats like MySQL;
- Attention to detail, rigorous record keeping;
- Skills in computer programming / scripting (e.g., R, python, bash);
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
Hourly wage of $15 and expected ~5 hours per week (max of 10 hours / week) for the next 3-6 months, with possible extension based on performance and budgetary capacity.
