Subject: Permanent Full Time GS-7 Wildlife Technician Position, Voyageurs National Park - OPENS APRIL 1!!!!!

From Steve Windels at VNP -

Hi!
I am excited to share that I am recruiting for a permanent full time GS-7 wildlife technician position at Voyageurs National Park! Be a part of an exciting team that aims to integrate cutting-edge applied science into natural resource management. Current projects include a large wetland restoration project where we are developing new techniques to remove invasive cattails and better understand the ecology of muskrats, a natural wetland herbivore of cattails; a long-term study of beaver ecology called "Beavers.Voyageurs.Research" (aka BVR); gray wolf ecology and management, including collaboration on the Voyageurs Wolf Project; and a myriad of other wildlife population monitoring programs including annual surveys of moose, bald eagles, forest breeding birds, common loons, and other species.
I am looking for a person with an extensive field experience in wildlife ecology/mgmt, including working in remote and rugged conditions. The successful applicant will have at least a Master's Degree in Wildlife Ecology or related field, good analytical skills with experience in ArcGIS (or other GIS packages) and programming in R, and a demonstrated ability for scientific/technical writing. Voyageurs National Park is a water-based park and experience operating motorboats is a plus.
The position is being advertised both as All Sources/Public and as a Merit Promotion opportunity for current Federal employees. Applications are only accepted through the USAJOBS.gov website. Relocation expenses may be covered in accordance with agency policy. The announcement opens Wed (April 1) and will close Fri (April 10), or the same day that the applicant pool reaches 50 applicants. PLEASE APPLY AS EARLY AS YOU CAN, BUT ONLY SERIOUS APPLICANTS, PLEASE!
Applicants applying via the Merit Promotion announcement may also qualify based on the Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA). https://www.nps.gov/aboutus/land-management-workforce-flexibility-act.htm<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https*3A*2F*2Fwww.nps.gov*2Faboutus*2Fland-management-workforce-flexibility-act.htm&data=02*7C01*7Cjodie.provost*40state.mn.us*7C8924e723e0c049fa837b08d7d5d758b9*7Ceb14b04624c445198f26b89c2159828c*7C0*7C0*7C637212993192099079&sdata=KKKrD1OlRt5IYwVvrrnaG*2FNoBuBFVEK2nhJqNGvKXlY*3D&reserved=0__;JSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUl!!HXCxUKc!g3Bt-9yY2uAZwZXvabFLCRbeskzlge2u92KxHqsbjDv6E84GhWpD405Wy1TjkTmNsw$>. The rules to qualify for LMWFA can be complicated and documentation of previous Federal employment will have to be submitted with the application.

Good luck!
