Graduate RA in Grass Carp Ecology and Control

Graduate positions are available beginning in the summer of 2020 in the Dept. of Environmental Sciences at the University of Toledo http://www.utoledo.edu/nsm/envsciences/<https://urldefense.com/v3/__http:/www.utoledo.edu/nsm/envsciences/__;!!HXCxUKc!mTGHxMMbWsqbCHZ6RhzKJQMPUd37795oL7DrWLg4I58t2rZhpc0xK0GWO5bF2mw$>.  Successful candidates will study the ecology and control of invasive Grass Carp in Lake Erie. The goal of this work is to help improve the removal of grass carp from the system.  Possible questions addressed could focus on improving direct removal techniques; quantitative analysis to help target removal; or behavior, reproductive biology, and life history of grass carp that will help improve removal. Students will work closely with partners at the Great Lakes Fishery Commission, OH DNR, USFWS, MI DNR, USGS, and other state and US and Canadian federal agencies.

Student support consists of an RA stipend, student medical insurance, coverage of some fees, and a tuition waiver.  MS stipend is $15,900 and PhD is $19,000 for the academic year with additional summer salary.  Multiple years of RA support are planned.  PhD students are required to TA for at least one semester. Student applying at both the MS and PhD level will be considered.


Qualifications
