Employment Opportunity –Summer Field Technician
Position:  Field technician

Job Summary:
The Roth lab in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife is seeking to hire three motivated students for an ongoing study of Red Swamp Crayfish invasions in Michigan for summer of 2020.   The Roth lab is collaborating with the Michigan DNR to detect new sites invaded by Red Swamp Crayfish in addition to controlling existing populations.

Duties will include:

  *   set and retrieve crayfish traps,
  *   assist MSU and MDNR personnel with eradication efforts
  *   collect biological data on captured crayfish.
Qualifications:

  *   Working towards a bachelor’s degree in fisheries, natural resources, or a related field
  *   Experience wearing waders and working in aquatic systems
  *   Excellent verbal communication skills
  *   Highly self-motivated
  *   Ability to drive a state vehicle (excellent driver’s record)
  *   Ability to live off-campus on weekdays during summer months
Time commitment:
The technician will work 40 hrs/week for up to 16 weeks from early May through mid-August.   Start and end date are negotiable.  Pay is $11/hr commensurate with experience.
