Dear all, We are seeking nominations for the three professional achievement awards offered by the Academy of Management International Management (IM) Division: the IM Division FIU Emerging Scholar Award, the IM Division Amorepacific Outstanding Educator Award, and the IM Division Outstanding Service to the Global Community Award. Please see below for the descriptions of the awards and information about the selection criteria. For all three awards, the nomination and evaluation process is as follows: · Nomination letter(s) should be e-mailed to the Professional Achievement Awards Committee Chair ([log in to unmask]) with the subject heading of "IM Division FIU Emerging Scholar Award", no later than 1st April 2020. · Nomination letter(s) (three pages maximum) should provide a rationale of how the nominee meets the specific eligibility and selection criteria (see below). The nominee's curriculum vitae should be appended to the letter. · The IM Division Professional Achievement Awards Committee will review all nominations and may select a winner for each award. In keeping with the highest standards, the awards may not be presented every year. · The three awards will be announced and presented to the winners at the IM Division business meeting at the 2020 AOM annual meeting. Rose Chair, IM Division Professional Achievement Awards Committee ****************************************************** The IM Division FIU Emerging Scholar Award The IM Division FIU Emerging Scholar Award recognizes outstanding contribution to international management scholarship by junior scholars. The winner is honored at the IM Division business meeting and presented with a plaque. The past winners of the IM Division FIU Emerging Scholar Award are: 2016: Ilya Cuypers (Singapore Management University) and Exequiel Hernandez (University of Pennsylvania) 2017: Elena Kulchina (Duke University) 2018: Sinziana Dorobantu (New York University) and Prithwiraj Choudhury (Harvard University) 2019: Stephanie Wang (Indiana University) Eligibility Criteria * Candidates must be nominated by others; no self-nominations are considered. * Nominees must have an interest in, and have contributed to, international management scholarship. * Nominees must have completed their PhD within eight (8) years of the time of nomination. * Nominees must be members of the IM Division. Selection Criteria Candidates are evaluated based on the following criteria: * Significant impact on research on international management (as described in the domain of the international management division) * Outstanding research productivity as shown, for example, by publications (especially in top journals), citations, and research awards * Research independence as shown, for example, by being the sole or leading author in published research or joint papers that only include junior scholars The IM Division Amorepacific Outstanding Educator Award The IM Division Amorepacific Outstanding Educator Award recognizes continuous excellence and innovation in international management education, at all levels and in a global context. The winner is honored at the IM Division business meeting and presented with a plaque. The past winners of the IM Division Amorepacific Outstanding Educator Award are: 2009: Harry Lane 2010: John D. Daniels 2011: Joyce Osland 2012: Paul W. Beamish 2013: José de la Torre 2014: Martin Gannon 2015: Steve Weiss 2017: Anil K. Gupta and Yadong Luo 2018: Christopher Bartlett 2019: Julian Birkinshaw Eligibility Criteria * Candidates must be nominated by others; no self-nominations are considered. * Nominees must have an interest in, and have contributed to, international management education. * Nominees must have at least 15 years of education experience in the area of international management. * Nominees must be members of the IM Division. Selection Criteria Candidates are evaluated based on the following criteria: * Major contributions to the global dissemination of international management knowledge * Advancing the development of outstanding scholars and the scholarship of others in the area of international management (e.g., training of outstanding Ph.D. students) * An important impact on international management pedagogy as shown, for example, by innovations in teaching methods and materials that have subsequently been widely adopted by others * Significant involvement in the training of other outstanding teachers * Outstanding performance in teaching international management over a long period of time The IM Division Outstanding Service to the Global Community Award The IM Division Outstanding Service to the Global Community Award recognizes continuous excellence in serving the international community. While the IM Division provides opportunities to serve the global community, this is not an award for service specifically to our division. Rather, the award scope is sufficiently broad to recognize service made via many organizations including international institutions, governments, and/or non-governmental organizations. The award favors longstanding service, but impactful service in a concentrated period of time will also be considered. The winner is honored at the IM Division business meeting and presented with a plaque. The past winners of the IM Division Outstanding Service to the Global Community Award are: 2015: Seung Ho Park 2016: Art Kleiner 2017: Jean J. Boddewyn 2018: Stephen Tallman 2019: Timothy M. Devinney Eligibility Criteria * Candidates must be nominated by others; no self-nominations are considered. * Nominees must have an interest in, and contributed to, the international community. * Nominees must have more than 5 years in the service of the international community. Selection Criteria Candidates are evaluated based on the following criteria: * Demonstrated outstanding service to the international community over a long period of time (may also have more intensive and impactful service over a shorter period of time) * Having an important impact on service of others by developing an organization or platform for global service ____ AIB-L is brought to you by the Academy of International Business.
