Research Technician (Student Services Contractor)
USGS Great Lakes Science Center
1451 Green Road
Ann Arbor, Michigan 48105

Job description:
We are seeking a research technician to assist with multiple Lake Michigan studies exploring variation in recruitment of larval fishes. The position will include a diversity of field work experiences (seining, day trips aboard a small vessel, weeklong trips aboard a large vessel) and laboratory experiences (processing zooplankton and ichthyoplankton samples, larval fish diets, extracting and reading larval fish otoliths). The first term of the contract is 12 months, but could be extended for up to another 12 months based on performance and future funding. Pay is at least $17.14 per hour, but includes no medical benefits. Start date is negotiable, but would prefer March 1, 2020.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would work full-time (40 hours per week), but students that could work part time through May and then full-time in the summer will also be considered. To be eligible for a student services contract, the applicant must be either a currently enrolled student or have graduated within the past 12 months. An ecology interest and background is required, and experience with zooplankton or larval fish is desirable.

How to apply:
Submit 1) a cover letter that describes your interest and qualifications for the position and 2) a resume that includes contact information for three references to David “Bo” Bunnell ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>). Applications will be reviewed as they are submitted.
