The Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program at the University of Washington
<http://uwconservationscholars.org/> is a diverse, committed, and creative
community from around the country that aims to change the face, practice
and future of conservation.


What we do: DDCSP@UW is a paid, two-summer undergraduate experiential
learning opportunity that explores conservation in the Pacific Northwest.
We support emerging conservation scholars in developing innovative
perspectives and skills by providing opportunities to explores nature
conservation and its relationship to environmental justice and cultural
identities, in both urban and rural contexts. The program is
interdisciplinary and partners with researchers, community-based
organizations, NGOs, local, state and federal agencies, and Tribal nations.


Who we’re looking for: We are looking for 20 undergraduates who reflect
cross-cultural perspectives with an emphasis on students from
underrepresented groups in the conservation field.

   Multi-year program, 8-weeks per summer (mid June to mid August)

   Paid travel, lodging, and food

   Additional stipend: $4,400/summer, total $8,800

   Year One:  Through field tours and exposure to research projects in
   action, scholars engage with conservation issues in a broad range of
   ecosystems, from temperate rainforests to urban farms. Scholars develop
   skills, perspectives, and relationships that serve as a foundation for the
   second summer, and their futures in conservation. Learn more here:

   Year Two: Scholars engage with a regional partner in an internship,
   while continuing to build community and deepen their analysis of
   conservation, equity, and inclusion. The summer culminates in a
   "Conservation Scholar Summit" that centers storytelling and provides career
