The School of Hospitality Business Presents: CAREER EXPO “Get the Ball Rolling”

THIS MONDAY, OCTOBER 14!!!!



There are many important details that you will need to know in order to help make your experience a success.  Please read the instructions below and all the attachments.


CAREER EXPO will be held on Monday, October 14 on the Concourse of the Breslin Student Event Center  followed by Interviews, Tuesday, October 15 at Spartan Stadium, 4th Floor Huntington Club.



I. Professional Development Seminars will be conducted at 8:30am, 10:30am, and 12:30pm prior to CAREER EXPO. They will be held in the Minskoff Pavilion, Room M019. They will be taught by industry leaders who bring relevant real-world work experience related to classroom topics. Please see the exciting program attached!  Business casual dress is acceptable for the seminars. (Attachment 1: Professional Development Program Schedule)


II. Company Meet & Greets will be held after each Professional Development Program at 9:30am, 11:30am, and 1:30pm. This is your opportunity to learn about companies that are new to you! Students will rotate between different companies and visit informally. Each Meet and Greet session will feature different companies. Please see the attached schedule for the list of companies participating. Business casual dress is acceptable. (Attachment 1: Professional Development Program Schedule)


III. Extra Credit/Participation may be offered by some of your professors for attending the Professional Development Programs, attending CAREER EXPO, or volunteering.  In order to verify your participation, YOU MUST complete a scantron. Professors will be the sole determinant of whether you receive extra credit.


IV. CAREER EXPO is our annual career fair for The School of Hospitality Business. It will be in the evening from 6:00pm-8:00pm after the Professional Development Programs and company Meet & Greets.  CAREER EXPO will be held on the concourse of the Breslin Center where company recruiters will set up a booth to network with you.  They will look at your resume to determine if they would like to interview you.  Companies are interviewing in order to hire for internships and permanent jobs after graduation. If you are a good match, they will sign you up for an interview time while you are at their booth. (Attachment 2: Tips & Interview Instructions)


V. Student Check in will be held at the Hall of History Gate at the Breslin Center. You MUST check-in to enter CAREER EXPO.  Check-in begins at 5:30pm.


VI. Company Information and Available Positions:  It is important for students to research the various companies that will be attending especially if you plan on interviewing. VII. Dress Code: The School of Hospitality Business expects students to be in Business Professional Dress ( dark suits) for CAREER EXPO and Interviews.


VIII. Parking: FREE PARKING is available in Ramp 7 for CAREER EXPO.  (Attachment 3: Parking and Professional Headshot Information)


IX. Interviews will be held on Tuesday, October 15 at Spartan Stadium, Huntington Club, on the 4th floor. Plan accordingly for multiple 30-minute interviews. Pay-by-Plate Parking is available in the Spartan Stadium lot for Interview day.
